Talking 6G74 swap into 04 Stratus R/T Coupe "COMPLETED"

Ok. I've decided that since it was going to cost me close to $500 to have both heads completely rebuilt and replacing 12 intake valves, head set, head bolts and a few other items, that for the cost, I would swap in a low mileage 6G74 engine. I found one an hour away from me with 63k for $350. I'll post up some pics of my progress.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

John

I've been able to get the engine installed and everything reconnected. Filled all the fluids. Turned the key and it just turned over. Didn't even try to fire. I'm going to re-check the connections and hook up my diagnostics machine and see what it's telling me.

Ok, I hooked up my diagnostics reader and pulled a P0335 Crank A Z.

I realized that I needed to do the reluctor change after doing more reading here. I changed the reluctor wheel in the distributor and now have the 74 dizzy w/72 reluctor installed. Are you referring to the plug wires/firing order?? Both the cap I removed and it's replacement had numbers on them. I just wired the new cap like the old one.

I didn't have to change any of the brackets. Everything fit/lined up nicely. I'll be checking the firing order Monday when I get back to work. I'm also making an adapter plate for the 72 tb to take care of the gasket mismatch with the Diamante intake.

Also, I have just a little exhaust work to do. I decided to keep the header style manifolds instead of the manifold/pre-cat set-up from the factory. It still has the main cat in-place.

Sounds like a blast. Pretty much any of the 6g series motors can be bolted in place of each other. Friend of mine has a 6g75 Mivec in a Daytona, that's a riot, it was a wiring mess to get it running though. Hope all worked out for ya.

When/If I blow my 2.7 up I'm swapping it for the 3.5 LH motor.

I bet it was a wiring mess. LOL LH motor??
A little update, it's been a while since I was able to work on the Stratus, but work has slowed down once again so I was able to get some things done. I finished up the exhaust, double checked the firing order and all connections......still no fire
I'm in the process of tearing off the front of the engine again to replace the crank sensor. I keep getting a code that says "crank A Z"

Default It's alive !!

It RUNS I found 1 of the 3 wires going to the CPS pinched off. Apparently when I replaced the bracket on the front (the one that helps hold the alt) I just caught the 1 wire and did the damage. Swapped out the CPS and it fired right up and ran pretty smooth. I have a slight vacuum leak at the TB and an exhaust leak, so tomorrow I'll take care of them.

Ok, so I fixed both leaks I had. I ran the trans thru the gears and then ran it up to 70 mph. Of course it's on jack stands Trans shifted great thru each gear. No hang ups.

Ok, I got the RT purring like a The only issue left is it's running at 217 water temp with the gauge parked smack dab in the middle of the range. Temp was read with my analyzer. I do have another thermostat to put in.

With just moving the R/T around the parking lot, this thing is going to be a beast when I'm able to take it out on the road. It's got a lot of torque
