Default HELP!! Service Engine Soon Light

Ok, I just got my Stratus R/T about a month ago, it is a 2004 but we bought it new off the dealer lot. As in when I test drove the car the car only had 88 miles and 107 when we signed for the title. I'm from south central Wisconsin and go to school in Daytona Beach so I drove the car down, 1360 miles. Ok, so today when I was driving to school my Service Engine Soon light came on, the care only has 3700 miles on it. No after market parts pure stock. Any guesses to what might be wrong? It just happen this afternoon so I haven’t had it into the dealer yet but it will be going in soon. The maintenance manual suggests having the first scheduled maintenance at 6000 miles and I’m only 1/2 way there and this is happening already. Thanks for any info anyone can give me.
Jason

i would take it in to a dealer service center ASAP and find out what fault code you get. It might be as minor as the Gas cap not being tightened right. It could be a defect

Find out how the car was stored during the year it sat at the dealership. Cars that arent stored properly can have problems even before you drive it off the lot. Im sure you're covered if anything is wrong with the car.

So I took the car into the dealer this morning and had them check to see what the problem was. The service guy was like I’m just going to ask this to make sure that I read that right but did does the car really have only 3700 miles on it? When I told him yeah, he was like there is no reason that should be on. As it turned out there was a vapor emissions leak. The way he explained it to me was it was caused by some hose that ensures fuel vapors don’t get into the cabin of the car and that was apparently leaking a little or something along those lines. So it’s taken care of now.

I probably should find out how it was taken care of, however the dealership is in Wisconsin and I am in Florida now. When I bought the car I asked the dealer why they had this one sitting here for such a long time. He explained it to me as it was one of the last ones they got in and had just not yet sold.

Thanks for everything

was it a minor evaporative leak or gross evaporative leak?
