02 Stratus 2.7L V6 - Solenoid leak?
Hello,
I'm a newbie at this type of thing so bear with me.
I've had a small leak coming from my Stratus for about a year now. The car still functions well and I've had no issues despite this leak. I took it to the dealer and they thought it was the oil sending unit. (I had the oil sending unit replaced before, but they replaced it again at no cost.) Nope, I still have a leak.
It seems the fluid leaking is a faint reddish color which I believe to be transmission fluid. Could the leak be coming from my solenoid?
If so is this a fix that I could do myself? I'd really like to learn and also save money because I just had to pay to have my water pump replaced which was very expensive.
Thank you.

You do describe the transmission fluids. Not sure how easy it is to fix on the 2g 2.7, but the 1g 2.5 was a very easy top down replacement. A couple 10mm bolts and it came right off. Took me and my buddy about an hour. If we weren't drinking and BS'ing it would have only taken about 15m on my own...
Where is the shift solenoid located on the 2.7L V6? Is it underneath the air filter housing somewhere? I think I could change it if I had instructions and knew where to look exactly. If anyone knows of instructions or a vid could you please post?
Thank you!
Thank you!
An update on this issue. The gasket that the solenoid sat on was definitely the problem. I went ahead and replaced the whole thing including the gasket. The part from Amazon was $80.
All I did was take the air filter housing out and the solenoid was below that. There are two hoses running over it that kinda make it difficult but I managed.
There hasn't been a leak that I can see since replacing it.
