2002 Stratus ES Transmission Issue
Hello,
I have a 2002 Dodge Stratus ES V6 with a 4 speed automatic transmission w/107,000 miles
My issue; The transmission has very recently started with slipping after first starting the car in the morning (Yes it is cold) and putting it into gear (engine revs but the car does not start to move until a few seconds afterwards.) After that I have no slipping issue. The fluid levels are a little high (in between the max cold mark and max hot when cold. My filter is less than a year old as is the fluid. I drive maybe 6000 miles a year.
Even more recently, the transmission has started hard down shifting from 4th to 3rd when slowing down below 30mph.
Up shifting is smooth and I do not feel any noticeable slippage during regular driving.
Could this be the shift solenoid?
Thank you for your time.
Will

This sounds about right. I always use synthetic tranny fluid since the manufacturer recommends it. I actually do most of what the article suggests when it is cold out.
