2001 R/T Starts But Almost Dies on it's Own... HELP PLZ
My 01 Stratus R/t starts up all of the time but sometimes it will start up and the RPM's will drop to almost zero and it sounds like it wants to shut down. I have to give it some gas for a few seconds to get it hover around 1,000 RPM's then it's fine. I just replaced the plugs and wires a week ago. The transmission was rebuilt back in October of 2010 and I know the automatic transmissions in those cars are junk. Do you think it's the transmission acting up or something else acting up?
I'm assuming you're talking about a 2DR Stratus, if not disregard what I'm saying as they're completely different...
Did you recently have your battery disconnected?
If so, our ECU's have to re-learn how to basically idle after the battery has been disconnected for some time. This doesn't always happen but occasionally does and yes it's annoying as heck! You'll have to leave your car running at idle for 20-30 minutes or you can drive it on an interstate or highway for the same amount of time. After that, you should be good to go!

Yes it is the 2dr coupe. Thank you for responding. I drive it on the interstate twice a week for school and the drive is 40 minutes both ways. I was wondering if it might be a fuel problem like enough isn't making it to the injectors or something? I'm not completely car savvy so I could be way off but I'm close to paying it off and I don't want it to kick the bucket right after I do lol Thanks for responding to it though.
