Hi I have a 98 Dodge Stratus with a 2.4. For some reason when you go to use the cigarette it blows the fuse to it. What could be causing this and how can I fix it without taking it into the shop.

 

most likely just need to replace the whole thing, over time the contact melts(or gets deformed and grounds out) if its used alot . you can get a universal one(lighter and socket) for $10.00 or less at autozone or parts place usually .its not very hard to replace usually depending on how much you have to take out to get to old one

 

I haven't tried using it since but once since I got the car a few years ago. All I know is it sparks and then blows the fuse when you try putting anything into it.
