I been having this problem with my 01 that everytime I drive for a little ways my car will shutdown while driving! Its a pretty scary situation. Please help If you can figure out why its doing this. Also is there anyway alternator could be problem. When I bought the car recently they said it needed alternator replaced.

 

It could be the alternator - especially if you already know the alternator is bad...

I take it you didn't have a mechanic look over the car before you purchased it. If you buy a car and someone tells you the alternator needs replaced you should really have it looked at immediately.
