I have a 97 four door with the 2.4L every time I turn on the cruise it turns its self off after about 30sec or 1/2 mile which ever. Then it dosnt allow me to turn it back on until I have turned the motor off. Its darn frustrating. Anyone got a solution for me? How about turning off the check engine light? I have changed both upstream and downstream oxygen sensors. I have tried taking the neg. wire off for about thirty minutes but that didn't work. I have no tool to use to reset it. Is there a place or a machine I could use to reset the light? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated..

 

what engine code are you getting?you can take car to any auto parts place(auto zone,advance,pep boys) and they will read for free,but they can't turn light off for you federal law. that may have something to do with cruise ,i would check for a vacuum leak (hoses, cruise reservoir can or the servo ). any kind of scanner can turn the light off

 

I had the car at the mechanics for the better part of the day. He tested and re-tested. End result was after a day of sitting around and one trip to Wal-Mart to buy some fre-on we came to the conclusion my car is possessed. When the car is running the fan runs all the time, he opened the box to find the relay isn't even in the panel. Its empty, when he put a new one in it stopped running. So he had me turn on the air, You guessed it... So after recharging the air conditioner, the air fan works fine. But the temp gauge doesn't work. And after all this the check engine light is still on. He gathers his tools and tells me to come back tomorrow. As im driving off with the engine light still on I notice the temp gauge isn't working again.. while driving home about half way the temp gauge starts working again... This is driving me batty. Help! Oh yea, he turned off the check engine light once and it stayed off until I noticed the temp wasn't working and he did something under the hood to get the darn thing to come back on. Please Help. He also checked for leaks on the cruise control. thanks.

 

This has got to be the most crazy thing so far with this car. I start the car and wait for it to warm up. Look at the temp gauge nothing. So I take off toward work and at the light I look down and the temp gauge is working! I get the check engine light turned off and as soon as the temp gauge comes on so does the check engine light. I want to get this car smoged here in Cali but they wont look at it with the check engine light on. I am stumped. Help Please I need Help.
