My 2006 dodge stratus sxt cooling fan makes a loud almost grinding noise when the cooling fan kicks, on when the temperature gauge is almost halfway. What is this? I have isolated the noise to the driver side cooling fan. I know this because I unplugged it and the noise stopped. Why would it be doing this?

 

Bad bearing. Replace the fan.
