Default Fuel Efficient

I just recently went on a road trip up near Chicago from where I live in Indianapolis....I have a 2002 Dodge Stratus R/T with the 5spd V6 in it. I have some minor engine stuff and a CAI. Thursday night before work I filled my car up and went home...I live about a mile from the gas station. I then went to work downtown Indy Friday morning and had to go to the airport and also sit in some construction delays as well. I drove round trip 351 miles...and about 50 miles of that was going to work, delays, street driving....not all of it was highway miles...

When I got home, I still had a quarter of a tank of gas.....and I averaged about 29-30mpg in my car. I had heard alot of bad things about the R/T's and Eclipse GT's as far as gas mileage was concerned.....but this to me is proving some people either wrong or horrible drivers...

I traded in a very loved truck because of gas prices and all I can say is this car has been worth every penny I've spent on it...

Where'd you go near CHicago? I agree with the good gas mileage. Obviously the 2.4L isn't as powerful but the highway gas mileage is fairly decent. Unfortunately the gas mileage is probably the same as the R/T's when other 4 bangers are getting more mpg on the highway. The new technology in today's car is a sweet thing. Look at the highway gas mileage on a new Vette with a six speed, it's amazing.

Maybe your cars like my Concord, at 65 MPH I only get 25 MPG but at 85 MPH I get like 30-32 MPG. So needless to say I like the open road.

My car is an Avenger with a 4 cylinder. I get 29mpg in combined driving, 35 at 70mph, 34 at 80mph and 30 at 90mph. I have been thinking of trading her in on a Stratus and have been told that the 2.7 will get maybe 28 on the highway and the 3.0 maybe 25. I want a 2.4 and would hope to get 30-32. I don't know if I am willing to give up the reliability of my Avenger. 177K miles and it is still running and driving like it was brand new. Is the Stratus going to give me this longevity? I have test drove 2 coupes and they didn't give me the ride or comfort I was looking for and the one sedan I test drove was obviously not taken care of.

drivign from detroit to columbus, and back to detroit, with some cruising in columbus, i got 28mpg. driving from detroit to norwalk ohio, racing the car all weekend which included letting it idle so that it would waste gas and lighten the car up, it still got like 20. the best that i have ever gotten was a long trip when i lived in pittsburgh when i got around 29.5, but that was an entire tank of highway driving.

scatpack, you drive an avenger, and you dont like how the coupe feels? interior wise, or ride quality?
