Default Belt help

My power steering is leaking, I don't know from where. To buy myself more time, I want to cut the belt that drives my AC condenser and my power steering. I'm well aware of the implications no power steering may have. I'm more interested in if you think this will work? Without screwing anything else up. It's the middle of winter. I dont care about the AC.

As long as that belt does not drive the alternator. Going to be a bitch to drive. Moved to the correct section.

Edit. Never mind. I see it only drives the pump.

Youre AC condenser runs when your HVAC is set to defrost. It wont work as efficiently. Youll have a wet window and possible mold if it runs enough and the car is let to sit.

Yeah I called a few dealerships today and talked to a few people about it. They said the same thing...

So, as a last ditch effort, I went out today and got power steering stop leak. Don't even begin to lecture me about how bad that sh** is because I personally vowed never to use it but I have no other option.

To my surprise it's actually working

Seems like you want to do stuff anyway. Why bother posting if you don't want to hear rebuttals?

Because despite what you and many other people think, I can't put my life on hold waiting for other people to chime in.

I was going to cut the belt, though I was hesitant. I posted this to get people's opinions how long ago? With no one replying, and me losing 2 quarts of fluid every day, I went and did something about it.

I still appreciate the input. If cutting the belt didn't ruin the HVAC I would have done that today.

Oh. It's only been one day....

I work overnights. I get confused. Don't yell at me.

Rockauto has remanufactured ones for about $50. Just have to pay about $80 or so upfront and get about $30 back when you send back your old one as a core. That and another quart or 2 of PS fluid and your back in business for about $100 if you do it yourself.

Remanufactured what exactly? I can't tell if it's the return line leaking of the pressure hose. I need to take off my tire to get a better look, but the lug nuts have already broken the tire iron and two 1/2 breaker bars of mine.

I took it in today. The mechanic told me to replace the rack to cooling line. I'm not sure which part this is. Anyone willing to shed some light?
