Hi, i've had my stratus for a few years, i bought it from my dad, who bought it in 1997 new. We've kept up maintnence on it over the years, and the car has never left us stranded anywhere. however, latley i've noticed the engine is getting louder and louder. it no longer goes vrummmmm when u rev it, instead it goes vrrunkkkkkkkkk....like it's dieing or something. Sometimes that's followed by a clicking noise, and when i shut it off after it sits a minute i hear a semi-loud pop sound. My first thought was an exhaust leak. i took it into a midas and merlin. someone actually held his hand on the exhaust and showed me their was no leaks. they said that my catalytic converter could be broken in half. does anyone know if this would be the cause of an un-healthy sounding engine? anyway my check engine light is not on, and it's still running smooth enough, just kind of loud and clicky. Any ideas or suggestions?
