I have a 97 Stratus. Lately after I park and turn the engine off the key won't come out. I have to put the car in neutral or start it again and drive to get the key out. I have been driving this car for years and this just started happening 2 weeks ago. Why is this happening and will this get worse if I don't get this fixed? If the steering wheel is locked or whatever, why is this happening more now than a few months ago.

 

Click Recalls&TSBs at the top of the front page,check for recalls concerning your car.
I think you will find recall for cable from shifter to ignition key.
That might cause what you describe.
Adjustment or new load-limiting push rod needed.
My 1995 Stratus has that kind of recall released 14.6.2004.
