I've never messed with any aftermarket alarm/remote systems personally, so I wouldn't have any idea of the difficulty of installing or removing them. How difficult it might be to disable/remove the Viper unit will in all probability depend on the quality of installation. Hacked-in installs are not easy to undo.

I've been chasing an sporadic transient electronic gremlin in my daughter's '99 Stratus for over a year. I know the frustration in trying to sort them out, believe me..

Have you swapped relays around in the PDC? Perhaps the Auto Shutdown Relay is tripping? Cleaned the connections with deoxidizer at the PDC and the PCM? Basic stuff, but worth mentioning..

Thanks for all your help, Douggro. I ended up selling the car to a mechanic and buying a similar car with many less miles and none of the issues for just a few hundred more. I hate to part with the car that I know well and has been good to me for so long, but there comes a time to weigh things out. I made the right decision. We'll meet again on here I'm sure.
