Lights issue
First of all, I am new here so please bear with me.
I am having an issue I hope someone can help me with.
I have a 2000 Dodge Stratus I recently got. Sometimes when I open the doors the dome light will not come on. ALSO sometimes the lights on the gearshift will not light up. If I pop off the part around the gearshift I mess with a box on the underside of the part they will light up green. Now I haven't had the car long and I thought when I got the car they were red not green and showed what gear I was in. But when they do light up it doesn't show what gear I am in. all of this worked when I got the car. Anyone have any idea why the dome light doesnt come on and why the gearshift lights don't always come on? Not sure if it is linked, but I did take the radio out and put in a CD player and I want to say it started about the time I did that.
Any help would b great!
Thanks
John

Check your door jamb switch for the dome light function. They're known to go bad over time, and are only a $5 part and a screwdriver to replace.
The gear indicator should be in your instrument cluster display along with the odometer, not on the shifter itself. The wiring to the shifter console runs through the center console so perhaps you pinched a wire to the shifter lights when putting in the stereo.
