This time, we used the A-frame to do all of the car lifting and used the hoist to pull the motor up into the car. This time, we layed the engine down on the legs of the hoist so that we don't have to lift the car so high. Once in place, we used the hoist to "pick up" the engine into place. This worked out 10x easier than getting it out.

Then you have the whole "try-to-find-where-all-of-the-fittings,-plugs-and-hoses-go" game. As it turns out, the '98 routs the vacuum lines a little different than the '97 does. No problem. We just uses the vacuum hoses off of the old engine. By the way, when trying to crank it for the first time, try to remember the crank sensor. It runs better with it...as in it RUNS with it.

And that's my story. Basically we started at noon on Wednesday and worked about 8 hours or so on it. We came back on Saturday and worked another 8-10 hours on it and a couple of more on Sunday afternoon to finish all of the loose ends. Oh, and we also replaced the axle shafts because they were bad. Might as well.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure we'll burn the car before doing this again, but we can at least chalk this up to some good experience.

On another note, does anyone know where we can get a R/T body kit for the '97? I'm trying to get my father-in-law to spice it up a bit. I told him I have some flat black paint and some tape...you know, so we can turn it into a Daytona

Thanks for the link. That may be a little too...hmmm, sporty for my father-in-law. He was looking for a more factory looking "Daytona" or "R/T" style facia. I want him to "rice" it up, but he's old...whatareyougoingtodo...
