2000 Dodge Stratus
I have a neighbor with a 2000 Dodge Stratus and we can not get the brake lights to work. I have checked the fuse panel on the side of the dash and the fuse panel under the hood. Both fuses are good and there is power to the poles when the brake pedal is depressed. I have also checked the bulbs and the filaments are good and there is power to the brake light socket. The third brake light bulb is blown, but there is power to there as well. Does anyone know what the problem is? I am very confused. Thanks in advance for the help.
Okay, I have the third brake light working. I ran a jumper from the brake light assembly and have power to the brake light socket. I have tested the bulb with another vehicle and it works. When I put the bulb in the socket and put that into the brake light assembly still nothing. I am not a super mechanic by any means, but I do know that if you have power to all the parts and the bulb works then it should all work together. What am I missing? Please, I am lost. Thank you.
What are you checking power with anyways?? If you have power and ground at the bulb sockets, then there is potential for current flow. But if there is high resistance in a circuit when a load is placed on that circuit, the resistance will ruin the potential. There have been issues with the circuit board that the light bulbs are attached to on each of the taillights.
