2001 Stratus R/T wont idle after it warms up
I have a 2001 Stratus R/T that idles just fine when you first start it in the mornings. After you drive it till it warms up, and stop at a stop sign or slow down really slow, the engine shuts off. It will start back just fine, but if you do not keep a little pressure on the gas pedal, it will quit again. It started out a couple months ago, when you left it idling for a period of five or ten minutes, it kinda acted like it the engine was going to quit, but then it would straighten up and be fine. Then it got to the point that it would quit if you stopped or slowed down. Finally the check engine light came on and I took it to Autozone. He said the mass airflow sensor was bad. So I bought a new one for $500 and that made the check engine light go out, but it still will not idle once the car warms up. Anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks for any help you can give me.
That's odd. The MAF was actually going to be my first guess until I got to the part where you had tried that already. I wonder if the PCM could be at fault. It will be hard to diagnose with no fault codes though. The other thing that can somethimes cause idle problems is one to the O2 Sensors.
this happened to my 02RT TWICE...do you have a cold air intake? how many miles? has it ever been fully tuned up?
when i had my issues, it was due to a post MAFS intake leak, which was an easy fix, and the second time it was due to bad spark plugs...
