I have a 2004 Sedan SXT and the metal pipes leading into the heater core started leaking. I live in the rust belt and both pipes are feathered and trash. I only need the car to run long enough to make it 40 miles to a dealer to trade-in. I've attached a picture to help show what I'm thinking might work.
Can I attach the rubber hose coming out of the thermostat, that leads into the heater core, to the rubber hose right next to the water pump belt (shown below)?
