A couple months ago my Speedo and tach gauges started going ape **** while driving 65-70 down the highway. That was intermittent initially with no drivability issues whatsoever. Soon after it threw a code for the input shaft speed sensor, and once it started shifting hard (mostly downshifts) and cutting power when the gauges started dancing, I ordered both input and output shaft sensors off of eBay. Big mistake there. Kept getting garbage sensors and eventually broke down and went to the dealership. The new OEM sensors worked great…until they didn’t. Symptoms came back faster than before and maybe even worse in severity. Now the code it’s throwing is P 0601 something about the PCM not getting consistent information. This car was left to me by my grandmother and is rust free and in mint condition with barely 50K miles. Is this typical of the PCMs of this manufacturer of that era? The cars barely broken in. I just recently replaced the tires it came from the dealer with. I typically CANNOT afford to get parts from the dealership and have seen lots of refurbished PCMs that they say come plug-n-play when you send them your VIN and the mileage. Can anyone verify that these are indeed OEM and competently refurbished? Is there a certain vendor that has a good reputation? I do all my own wrenching, and after the last year and a half I have to watch every penny. This was supposed to be my low mileage “dependable” daily driver since most of my other vehicles are Jeep WJs at various stages of transformation into off-road beasts, none of which could be accused of more than occasional dependability.
Any advice would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

I did replace the TCM ( transmission control module) on my 01 dodge stratus 2.4 with those symptoms and it solved my problem, but yes before that I did tried with the sensors but I didn't work good luck friend, 😉
