2004 Dodge Stratus R/T 3.0L starting problems
I have a 2004 Dodge Stratus R/T 3.0L. I have recently started having an issue where, if the engine is at operating temperature, the car tries to start but idles very rough and eventually stalls. If I pump the gas pedal periodically during this rough idle, it eventually starts running right. This only happens when the vehicle is at operating temperature. Otherwise, the car runs like a champ and still gets around 19-20 MPG mixed city and highway. It has plenty of power once running correctly. I should add that, after I have that starting problem and starts running correctly again, my idle is rock steady at around 750rpm and the caris do quiet that someone's you can't even tell it's running.
I have had people tell me it is one of three problems.
1. Vacuum leak. I feel like a vacuum leak would cause problems all the time, not just at operating temp.
2. Faulty MAF sensor. I thought if the MAF was bad it would throw a code. There are no codes.
3. Engine Coolant Temp Sensor. Again, if this was bad, it should be throwing a code. Also, I can't seem to find an ECT sensor on this car. All the manuals talk about where to find it on the 2.7L, but nowhere in the manual does it mention an ECT sensor on the 3.0L.
There are no codes being thrown. I've checked for different times.
If anyone else has some ideas or if you can confirm any of the ones above, I would be extremely grateful. This is my daily driver and I often have to run errands in our. Not being able to start the damn thing when I come out of a store is really annoying.
