Default Wheels - American Racing 17X7.5 CHROME SNIPER

Has anyone had a problem with the American Racing 17X7.5 CHROME SNIPER wheels that have been available on the Stratus since 2001? The Problem I am concerned with is the appearance of a bent wheel with no apparent reason. Six months ago I developed a vibration at about 65 mph. When I took it to a reputable tire dealer they balanced all the wheels on the car and advised I had one slightly bent rim which they couldn't balance. About three months later the vibration began to start at a slower mph and became more pronounced. Back to the tire dealer to find that now there are two bent rims. No crashes or off road for this Stratus! Saturday I replaced two tires and find that I have three bent rims!!! What's up with these rims? Thirty years ago I sold American Racing products and I considered them top of the line for aluminum wheels.

The wheels have been available on the car from the dealer on all Stratus r/t's since the model year 2001. Clear enough?

i have never seen this wheel on a stratus...and while American Racing may offer it, this wheel was not offered as factory equipment on a 2001+ stratus...i suppose that at some point a dealership may have thrown a set of these on a stratus, but ive enver seen it, and this wheel is not "OEM"...

the "high end" stratus wheels are the ones shown on my car...

KMCINNIS: BadStratRT is correct, those are NOT OEM wheels. I also have a 2002 Stratus RT, and it was not an option on the car. Most likely your vehicle was either a dealer used car, or its been owned by someone else. I'm speculating here, because I dont know if you were the original owner. Sorry for your problems but maybe you should consider a set of stock rims? Or maybe a different brand? I havent ever bought anything from AR over a size 15"
