Brake lights all not working
Hello,
I have a 2002 dodge stratus with cruise. When I press on my brakes, none of the three brake lights work. If I turn on headlights, tail lights light up fine. Turn signals work fine. cruise works fine. hazards also work fine. Just no brake lights.
What I have already done....
1. I first checked the bulbs, they are all fine
2. checked fuses, all o.k.
3. Replaced stoplight switch, still no brake lights
4. checked to see if there is power at the stoplight switch, yes there is.
I am now stumped. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, John

IF it is a coupe, I can scan you the circuit diagram. (also, the fuse is number 5, rated at 15 amps, and i believe located under the hood.)
If it is the Sedan I can offer only general info, as I have nothing on that car.
Obviously the next thing to check is the taillight assembly. Have someone stand on the brakes and see if you have power there.
If Yes, then you have lost the ground on the other side of the bulb.

Thanks for the response. You were on the right track. I figured it out, and thought I should post it here for others.
The one thing, I should have checked prior to replacing the Stoplight switch was to see if there was power at the taillight assembly.
Yes I did have power at the taillight assembly so this narrowed my search. Before seeing if I had a bad ground, I purchased two new bulbs and replaced them even though the flashers and taillights worked. Of course this did not fix the problem, but I did unsnap the brake light switch from the mount so the power was constant to the brake lights. When I plugged the assembly back in I noticed if I wiggled the connection it would work briefly.
I then noticed that the female portion of the plug was a little wider than normal, so I pryed it back in place, and it worked.
