Default 2001 Stratus R/T brake questions

I have a 2001 Stratus R/T 3.0 that came with the 17 inch rims.

I have 2 questions:

1. Does anyone know where to find good rotors for it? I was looking for drilled and/or slotted rotors, but everywhere i've checked does not have rotors for the 2001 R/T 3.0. It has a different bolt pattern than the others. Most have a 100mm bolt pattern. Mine is bigger (i'm not sure exactly what the measurement is though because I can't find any rotors that fit it).

2. Has anyone had trouble getting their old rotors off? Mine are literally stuck on there. If you had trouble getting yours off and managed to get them off, how did you do it?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

first, deveilsreject got drilled slotted rotors on ebay, perhaps he can comment on that. i plan on doing the same when its time for new rotors, as the OEM ones are so expensive, you might as well get "performance" rotors. Your bolt pattern is 5x114.3, so they should be the same rotors for all of the coupes. unless you some how got some freak assembly, they are the same. I have gone through a similar issue finding rotors for a non-RT that had the RT braking components.

have a look at the picture that i have attatched. get something like a wheel lug socket, and hold it where the X's are, and hit it with a hammer. you can sometimes hit the rotor with the hammer, but the socket may help. because the mounting surface has galded itself to the rotor, and you need to break that seal...the hammer will almost always work. Hit it once or twice in one spot, then move across the rotor, and hit it a few times...moving around.

Yeah, 114.3 sounds right. I don't know why, but everywhere I look, they seem to think the 100mm is the right ones for my car.

I will try that to get the rotors off.

Thanks for the quick response.

For getting your old rotors off, I will suggest like BadStratRT suggested, take a piece of wood or an old lug nut and place it in a couple different areas and bang on it. Its a pain if they're heavily rusted, but it can be done with some time and a lil muscle. If you absolutely must, tap on the back of the rotor too. That is all on you however.

As for the rotors, I got a great deal on some drilled/slotted rotors from GripForce F1 on eBaY. They're rated very well and the cost to me was like $121 plus shipping. Was something like $162-163 to my doorstep. The average OEM rotor goes for about $69-80. The bolt pattern is indeed 5x114.3 and the rotors are the same as the ones on the Eclipse. In fact, the ones I bought said they were for an Eclipse and a couple other cars heh. I'm putting them on this weekend, but this is not the first time I've done drilled/slotted rotors. They're good so long as you properly break them in. Same with the brakes. I'm planning on using Hawk pads on my car.

Here's their site... -=-=->GripForce F1 on eBaY

Current auction for Stratus R/T rotors -=-=->Click Here $124 for all 4 rotors

Couple of pictures of the rotors as well...these are after I got them and took pictures...

Cool. Thanks a lot for the info and pics. What do you mean by "break them in properly"?

When dealing with ANY rotors/brakes, or even a motor...there is a break in period in which you should do certain things to ensure longer life and better performance out of your vehicle. With brakes and rotors....you need to basically break them in a certain way.

Follow the 3 guides that are listed at that site. That will give you all the information you need! [8D]

I have the same rotors on my 02 r/t and they add a really nice touch. I don't know if your interested, but while you have them off, painting the calipers adds a nice touch as well. I used an epoxy kit I bought on ebay, I think it was like 30 bucks and looks really sharp.

i just ordered a set of those the other day...i think they are the ones everyone else on here is talking about...as for the question of getting them off, try hitting them with a bigger hammer, that will usually do the trick.
