My girl friend said she stopped at the gas station to fill up and noticed her gas cap was loose. She said it still ran fine on the rest of the way to work but, then she got in it to go home and it is running really rough and has no power. Any Ideas?????????

 

Bad or old spark plugs, dirty fuel filter, bad fuel pump, bad o2 sensor, crappy gas, and a dirty intake could all be possible issues.

I'd suggest dumping a container of fuel injector cleaner and gas treatment into the tank...maybe even 2 gas treatments into the tank and drive it down as close to empty as possible.....and see if that doesnt help. Bad gas can contribute to power issues and rough idling/running. It's relatively cheap, like maybe $10-12 for the 3 bottles....and its something that doesnt really require being dirty.

I took her car to the auto parts store and lifted to hood. I found an ignition coil that was really hot. The one next to it wasn't. I replaced it and it has been running great. The part was 115 dollars. It had a small crack in the potting. Hope that takes care of it. I didn't even see any spark plugs or plug wires?????????
