2002 Dodge Stratus Sedan rattling
My wife's Stratus has had a rattling sound under the car on the back passenger side for about a year now. We took it to the dealership during the first year we had it because it was doing it and it took them three times to fix it. It has now started again and I am reluctant to take it to the dealership since it is no longer under warranty. It rattles over bumps and such at low speeds.
I looked through the old invoices and on one it says the tightened they heat shield. I am wondering if it may be something I can look into and fix myself. Does anyone have any input as to whether this heat shield is something I can tighten down?
Thanks for reading and any input

i live with the rattle on my '02. look under the car at the heat shields, if they are still tight the suspension might need to be lubed at the grease nipples. jiffy lube could do the job w next oil change.
Yeah. It is a tin can sound. That is a good description ofit hen I will take a look this weekend if I get a chance. The wife is just tired of hearing it and is starting to get on me to look at it. Whereabouts underneath do I need to be looking or is it pretty identifiable?
I finally found the cause of my rattling noise. The metal clips that holds the brake pad in the piston corroded and broke off so my pad was essentially just hanging in there and the metal to metal caused the rattling. I replaced my rear pads and rotors myself the other day. Finally, the noise is gone.
