Default Rear speaker Install

Okay,

How do you take out your deck speakers and install new ones?

Does that felt cover come off, and do you have to do a ton of work to do this.

If any one has a walk through would be greatly appreiated.

In my 97 strat all you have to do for the back is to look for some plastic screws and push them up with some plyers. If they bend oh well. When it comes off (little tug here and there) the speakers are bolted in from the top. I decided to make it easier on myself and used a box cutter to make the 6 x 9 holes. Its not fun but not very hard. HAVE FUN!

For the front in my 97 strat they are 6.5in and The metal grills pop off with a flat head screw driver (careful not to bend the grills) When they are off just unscrew them and wire the new speakers. I drilled new holes to mount the new speakers. VERY EASY JOB! Thats it.

Easiet was to do the Rear speakers is to remove the rear deck. Its simple, first, put down your back seat, then rip all the trip surrounding the rear deck, out. Then just push it up, its goes in and comes out pretty easy. One you do that just unscrew the four mouting screws and drop the new speakers in, make the connections in the trunk.

As for the Door speakers, its like paulwuz said, just pop off the grills.

For the tweers in the dash, its tough, it was a two man job for me. The long black strip at the end of the dash where the tweeter grills are is one giant annoying peice. Pop it up with a flathead screwdriver, its in there pretty good so it takes work, then you gotta wiggle it out which is also annoying. Once you remove that the tweeters are right there. They're big, so if ur installing aftermarket tweeters (such as 1" or so) you gotta make a custom housing of it. Then just put the black strip back in (which is ALSO a tedious job) and your done.

GOOD LUCK

I tried working on my front tweeters today. I got half of that strip to pop off but i can't get the rest. I'll get my chevy friend to help me. He is used to ripping stock stuff apart to get it off lol. The front right tweeter blew a little while back from a Sony Xplod. Very VERY anoying sound... That buzzing. I will post if I get it off.
