Default 99 Stratus 2.4L DOHC OIL GAUGE?

I have just purchased a 99 stratus with the 2.4L DOHC. I noticed that it didn't have an oil gauge, and I was like, whats up with that. Every other car that I have driven came with an oil gauge. I'm just used to seeing them in cars. Just curios about why they decided not to put one in the car. Can anyone explain why that might be? Also, since the car doesn't have one i would like to add an oil gauge to it. Anyone know if it can be done since it came without it? You know mount an aftermarket oil gauge somewhere that i can see it. I will just feel a little more comfortable knowing that the oil gauge is there. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

from the car makers point of view it is cheaper to put in an idoit light than a guage. 'cause it has the light, the eng has a spot for the guage sensor. You may have to change the sensor (you prob have a switch, off-no issue, on-low oil press).

you could try and change the inst panel to one that has all the bells and whis. i don't know spef's but would think it would be a straight swap (cheaper for the car maker). let us know, good luck.
