Air and heat only work on setting 4
I have a 2002 Dodge Stratus. Recently I was out driving and my air was working just fine. I went in to a store got back in my car, started it up and the air stopped. I messed with the ***** and I found that it did work, but only on setting 4. The same problem goes for my heat and defroster. My heat and air controls are 3 *****. One for temp, one with several settings for heat and air and one with 0 to 4 that controls the blower power. My pops and I were going to fix it but scrolling through the repair manual we never really found an exact match for the porblem. So before I started tearing things up or taking it in and being charged my first born son, I was wondering if anybody has a solution for my problem. Thanks.
hmmm...this is a common problem, and i cant think of the part that fixes it right now..when i worked for the dealership, we went through TONS of them...
its driving me nuts...let me hunt around and try to recall, or perhaps someone else can help me out here..
check that, i believe that it is the blower motor resistor...that was the common cause of your exact issue, and ive seen it at the dealership and all over the forum...makeitmopar.com has it for 15.08 (coupe) or 24.94 (sedan)...i cant recall what you drive.

yes it is most definetly a blower motor resistor, chrysler vehicles blow through them all the time, i haver done so many i've lost count.....i go cross eyed just thinking about it[:-]
there is a plastic panel below the glove box remove it an you will see it connected to the HVAC housing it is the only thing with 5 or so wires going into it, unplug it, remove 2 screws and reverse procedure to install. it's quite easy.
p.s i believe the screws for the resistor are 8mm hope that helps
