Alright I'm full of questions today. I just bought my daughter a used stratus which I don't know if it has keyless entry or not. It has a switch that locks and unlocks the doors on the driver and passenger doors. My question is how to tell if I purchase the keyfob for remote entry it will work with this car or not. I called the local dodge dealer who asked for the VIN, then after a few minutes of looking around told me "I don't think it has it". Is there a way to tell from the VIN? Or is there a site to cross check from VIN?

There are what's called sales codes on cars built by mother mopar,maybe the VIN archives do not go back that far.I tried one for an 86 caravan and all it gave me was where and when the vehicle was built,not the sales codes.The Transmitter (pn 4806229ab) is good from 98-00 MYs and it does not specify any type of sales code outside of it is for an European car.The other thing is you may need the dealer to program it for you.You might get lucky by having the owner's manuel and it might give you instuctions on how to programm remotes.Good luck

 

if the dealer did a vin inquiry on your car and the keyless entry was not on the options list then that means your car didn't come equipped with it. but if you find that there is keyless entry, the only way to program the remotes is with a chrysler scantool.

 

i own a 1998 Dodge Stratus ES. Mine doesnt have key less entry though. But it was an option. Best bet is to go to the dealership like the other two said.
