Default oil pan screws

I was changing the transmission oil on my mothers 97 stratus and noticed that whoever did it before me stripped out the aluminum from the transmission with a couple of the pan bolts. Is it possible to tap those without hurting anything.

yes, i'd recomend using a threaded insert. you basicly rebore the hole, tap it so it's a bit bigger, screw in the insert (brings it back to normal size), and your good to go. real easy to do, you just have to find the rigt size. you just have to watch the torque during reinstall, i'd recomend some type of anti-seize. good luck.

yeah ive actually used those before on my head. one time i started up my neon, heard a big loud bang, and it was runnin all sorts of crazy. I checked it out, and the spark plug actually ripped through the threads and came out. So im familiar with that. thanks for the confirmation.
