Default Oil pressure Issues

2003 Stratus SE

When at idle the car would kind of shutter like it wanted to shut off but never did. On Saturday, as I was driving I saw the oil light flicker so I went straight to the dealer. Service adviser said it could be a, sludge in the oil pan, the oil pressure sending unit or the oil pump.

To drop the oil pan and clean the sludge = 275.00
To replace the oil pressure sending unit = 175.00 - 275.00

Considering a worst case scenario, anyone know the price to have the oil pump replaced? I just want to be prepared just in case.

I have a 2001 and about a week ago it sputtered and I have seen the oil light flicker. Today it stopped cold and the oil light came on. I got it running and it sputtered again and the light flickered. Right now it is running like normal, so it comes and goes. The things I have read is it could be the signs of complete engine failure. If anyone has had this problem and could tell us what to expect it would be nice. I know it could be sludge even though the car has been serviced every 3k miles. Any help would be great.
Thanks

Well I got the car serviced yesterday. The dealer replaced the oil pressure sending unit. The car doesn't do that sputter when I crank it now and it drives much better. Although I did notice a small sputter when stopped idle at a red light. It also did it when I driving on the interstate, that was more like a kick back or something. I'm now beginning to wonder if the timing is off. I got the timing belt replaced about three months ago. Does anyone know if this could be a timing related issue?
