01 stratus V6 # 1 spark plug. Wife's car.
After an unsuccessful search I ask here.
The check Engine light came on in the 2001 stratus ES. V6, non-RT.
Anyways, the pulled code indicated a "cylinder #1 misfire." Turns out, the #1 is under the upper intake. I had thought the #1 was in the front (towards the front of the car) left. What I wanted to do was pull the plug wire and see if the coil is delivering spark. So I can know if it is a plug problem or a coil problem.
The car seems to run fine, and after disconnecting the battery (yes, I know...) the check Engine light did not come back on except for the test when the key is first turned, but it went back off.
I have not had a lot of time to mess with it yet. I did drive it around, the light did not come back on. It seems to run fine. Always has.
So, is it possible to to even get to and disconnect the #1 wire to check for spark from the coil, without pulling off the upper intake?
And where are the coils located on this engine?
Thanks for any help
