Default go faster?

i have the 2.4 DOHC base model stratus and its rev limitor limits it to 3500 rpm so it right now is topping out at 100mph. What can i do to remove the rev limitor? and does anyone know any upgrades to get a little more torque out of this engine?

What kind of Stratus? Coupe, sedan, year? These make a great deal of difference in what can or cannot be done. Being DOHC, I'm assuming it's a sedan. I think the 2.4 in the coupe was only SOHC unless you did an Evo head swap.

The only way to remove the cut out (it stops gas delivery at a certain speed, not a rev limiter) is to program it out of the the computer. If that is possible for your model.

the reason for me thinking its a rev limitor is that when i rev it up in neutral it wont go past 3500 rpm either.

It appears the PCM can't be reflashed on your cars and even the dealer is limited in what they can do... and no doubt they wouldn't remove the limiter. It's probably just coincidence that the fuel cuts out at 3500rpm in high speed runs, but it is a rev limiter in park/neutral to keep you from hurting the tranny. They don't want people revving it to 6000rpm and pushing it in drive. It's expensive on warranty replacements. [8D]

BTW, I looked up this info on 2gss.org, apparently a forum dedicated to 2nd gen Stratus sedans. Might want to check them out.
