97 Strat - parking brake equalizer?
Hello all:
97 Strat 2.0, rear drum brakes, new shoes/cylinders/drums, 130k.
I have to replace my parking brake cable(s) and the Haynes manual is telling me that I also need to replace the parking brake tension equalizer (located up where the lever is) when I do this. Does anyone have any idea how to get one of these? I checked with my local dealer to see if they had one the other day and they did not but did not offer to order one for me. I have searched on line and also found nothing.
Does this REALLY need to be replaced or is it just a money making thing for Dodge? What would happen if I didn't replace it?
Also, if anyone has any tips on how to replace the cables, I would greatly appreciate it. From what the manual describes, it involves removing the back seat. Great. Thanks again Dodge.
