It sounds like it's related to your coolant system.Have you noticed if your engine temp. drops when the cold air comes out of the heater? If so, yourantifreeze mix could be wrong or not enough. If the engine temp. is normalyour thermastat may be bad. These are the cheapest and quickest problems to check on.

When the car is idling it will blow warm air and the temp guage will rise slightly, when you start to drive it will drop back down to the cold psoition and blow cols air.

Try bleeding air from the thermostat housing, you probably have an air pocket there. First, top off the plastic bottle, them get the engine warmed up. Then, take a 10mm box end wrench and crack the bleed screw on top of the thermostat housing and let the air out till you get a steady flow of coolant. Then tighten it back down ant check the plastic bottle lever and add if nescessary.

It don`t get any cheaper or easier than that to try first.
