Default Filling gas tank

Hey everyone, just bought a 96 stratus with a few problems. Im new to the site but have allready found a wealth of info. Has anybody ever had problems filling the gas tank? I can only put about 10 cents worth in before it shoots out at me. Takes about 20 minutes to fill it. Ive been told filter problems but isnt that after the tank? Please help, its cold on my fingers![X(]

my 02 has the same issue with most pumps. i found that if i put the nozzle just past the flap valve i can set the "clicker" to full blast and put my hands in my pocket to keep them warm. hope it helps, happy motoring.

should be a vent hose that lets air/fumes out of the tank while filling (most cars have the ventclosetothe flap), might be blocked with ice. don't have a book for my strat, so i couldn't say where to look. if you can see it, find a bud that has a garage and a shop-vac. use duct tape and a straw (the drinking type) to see if you can pull air through the vent hose. if not, hopefully you can reach the point where the hose goes into/out of the tank to see if the hose itself is bad. if not, you may have to drop the tank if you can't trace the issue to a fuel line/filter prob first. good luck.
