2001 R/T V-6 5-speed. Bad paint! Does anyone else have problems with their paint job? I bought this car with 12 miles on it, it's been handwashed andall Maguire's care products on a regular basis, and in '03 white blotches started on roof and has spread all over, some areas now down to dull base coat. At 35K I took it to local dealer and they blew me off (no record at headquarters of my claim) and now at 45K they say I'm out of warranty!! I say they should make it good. If no satisfaction, I can post pix so you'll all be warned!! Otherwise, I LOVE this car.

 

Ive think Ive heard of this on the black paint, but dont recall exactly. sorry.

 

Yes, it's a known problem on 01-02 black paint. There was a goof in the primer and it reacts with the paint causing it to slowly erode. Only way to fix it is to have the panels stripped to bare metal and reprimer and paint. If you don't strip the original primer off the the panel, it will happen again.
