2000 status rough running and dies

2000 status rough running and dies
I have a 2000 Status 2.0 L, while driving it , it will start to jerk and at idle it will stall. One person said that it was the O2 sensors. I find this hard to believe becauses I have never had an O2 sensor go out and act like that. This guy use to work at a chysler garage. Any help would be appreciated.
