If you have in data or a 2006 viper that can go faster than 190 STOCK. Then you should send it to the producers od Motortrend, Car and Driver, and Road and Track. Oh and tell dodge too.

A three mph difference on the 06 and 98 and both of which are limited? I still don't see the big deal you're trying to make.

Matt
I must say you are keeping me on my toes. Thankyou for replying and keeping me honest on my post. To address todays reply; well do you remember when the 95 mustang cobra hit the streets. It had about 245hp and about 280ft lbs. The latest version; the Shelby has somewhere between 450-500hp and about 450-475ft lbs. Thats not bad for 10 years or so. In like manner the 95 Grand sport had about 330hp and the lastest ZO6 505, I can respect that as well. Now the 95 viper had about 415hp and the new one 510hp. The big deal is I don't see ten years of development. It seems like Dodge said just put a engine in a car; yet everone else seems to be giving the public more of a well rounded performance car. I have not driven a viper to the edge so I understand I may be speaking out of turn.
Until next time

That's a reasonable upgrade though, Dodge can't go around slapping 800+hp stock into the Viper for a 10 year upgrade, without bumping the price up.

if you had the longest straight of road ever, i'd top the viper out at more than 350 mph since because of the sixth economy gear, but it tops out at 5th gear, and with all this TORQUE, I'd already blown your CHEVY V-8 BUTT, Vipers own in this topic

I don't own a viper so I must assune what motor trend, car and drive, and road and track print must be true. Ok having said and understand that; in 98 the viper GTS posted a top speed of 192mph in a motor trend flat out test. All three post 190 mph top speed for the 2006. Now if you know of something different you should write them and tell them, or if you have a 2006 viper and you have been over 190 checked by GPS then I'll change what I said. Until then the 98 viper is flat out FASTER.

All car magazines are biased toward some extension, and they have had biased information published with speed times compared to actual times.

Until then the 98 viper is flat out FASTER.
Governor on it is, but so what..

Yeah
Matt
I know car mag. can be one sided, but like I said I don't have a viper. I can't test one on the outer edges. I think the only true place to test top speed is on the Ford 7.2 mile oval. So yes any test with banking will not give a true speed. Nonetheless I have to take their word for it, if not then whats the standard. If you have a idea of a better way to get a base line and hold it to account then I'll try that. I mean you can't listen to the guys that say " yeah I had a 71 pacer with a 502 bored 20 over, had it flatout 298mph I tell you what"

Not governed, no contest, the GTS would never catch up...

but since we are talking about the stock one, which is governed..........

The 2006 Coupe is faster 0-60 and quarter mile. It will also actually get to 190 faster than the GTS.
The only way the 98 GTS would be faster is after they reach 190...
So after miles of racing... yes the GTS would finally be faster than the coupe...
