Automatic Viper?
Since the outgoing Quad-Cab Ram SRT-10 used an automatic transmission, do you guys think it would be in Dodge's favor to offer the automatic tranny with the 08' Viper as an option? I think it would benefit Dodge from the people seeking luxury. The Viper already has the suede/leather interior and some nice options, why not an automatic?
because high end sports cars should require that extra measure of driving ability....if you arent coordinated enough to drive a stick, you dont need to be in a high performance car.
Dodge never made the Viper for the masses, therefore my answer to do they need an automatic, NO.

Maybe it's due time that they should offer Vipers for the masses, somewhat less then the Vette (not price wise). The whole point of Dodge offering any car is for profit. If they used components that are already available to broaden their market, I think it would benefit them.
Any bozo can use a stick. I see horrible women drivers using them everyday and they're quite coordinated. You make it sound as if that if you use a stick you're a good driver or better then others when it's just another hassle shifting. The 7 Series BMW's and S600 by Mercedes both use a type of automatic configuration, yet both are comparable to a high performance car...or Viper at that.

DC also gets money from the name and other Viper related items. Once again, all contributing to overall profit.
To make a Viper for the masses you would have to cut the price in 1/2. If that was done the car would be no where near what it is today. They build it to be a "supercar" or "american exotic". Not the grocery getter that mom drives. Altough a hot mom in a Viper is a interesting thought......
