Viper history
Sorry... I think I just found what I was looking for, apparently reading>me. First thing I should've done was check out the stickies
. But I would like to ask what years should I check into? My fiance wants one sometime down the road and I plan on givin one to her. She doesn't care for the newer vipers ( I think the SRT-10 models, correct me if I'm wrong ) but likes the older body styles ( like 95-01 or so ). My budget would be up to $40k... anything I should look for in those models or stay away from?

92-02 is the years you want for that body style.
FIrst question after that is Coupe or Convertible.
If coupe you are now 96-02, but you are pushing the price @ 40K for a coupe, a nice one will be a little more, not much but a little if you get a 96 that is not a blue/white. 40K is not going to get anyting newer that is a coupe, well unless it is a salvage.
Based on your budget the 93-96 RT10 (convertible) is what you should be looking at. You can pickup a 93-96 for under 40K with low miles if you look around long enough. In those years check for paint issues on the side sills (exhaust covers). If a 93 or 94 find out if the head gaskets have been replaced, if not plan on a $1000 expense. If low miles with original tires get new tires first thing! If the dash looks like crap and it is the grey color you will have to repaint a different color. That grey rough paint has yet to be re-produced. SHould have been black anyhow.... I would stay clear of early 93s, only becasue the antenna is UGLY. Mid 93 they moved the antenna into the windshield. Look at the front facia for serious damage, it is low and scraps easy, scratchs are probably going to be there, but you do not want cracks! If you do get a RT10 I would warn you, not the car you want if you are going to drive in the rain. Other than that it is typical car stuff. Check for leaks or abuse.
After purchase anything you buy has the "Viper tax". 95% of everything is more than it should be, even brake pads! Also expect lots of strange questions from people, depending on the area you live in people tend to flock to the car. Never apply full or even hard thottle until the steering wheel is pointed straight. If you do not believe me go to a BIG empty parking lot and try it....
