That's a junk yard hitch with the ends cut off and a 1/8" plate welded all the way across the top to make it flat from end to end, then it's welded to the frame. I'll probably put bend up some more 1/8" plate and weld it to the back of the hitch and the cross member just to be sure that it'll hold.

Those straps didn't come with hooks, they're connected with 6 1/2 ton shackles from Tractor Supply. And the straps are rated for something like 27000 lbs.

We're gonna have a Dodge convoy. At least those Jeep guys will have some nice trucks to look at when we go by.

ok, i get what you did.. and i will do thes ame type of thing.. for the hitch that is...

and those straps will be alright... but not set, they will snap after three or four times of jerkin someone out... those are good for the light trucks like rangers and jeeps.. our full sized trucks are to heavy to extended use...

meanwhitemopar, have you ever seen the straps (military) that they use to pick up stuff with the helicopters? A friend of mine has one that is used to carry howitzers (105mm) and it is 4 or 5 stacked straps that are sewn together with a loop on each end, the strap is square because it is multiple straps that are stacked. I believe it is about 1 1/2" x 1 1/2". I guarantee you won't break one of those if you ever get your hands on one.
That guy was pulling me out one time and he was getting about a 25-30' run on the strap and when he got to the end of it his truck hopped off the ground. And he did that a few times before he got me out.
