tint on tailights
CAn you put cheap autopart store tint on the tailights to darken them? Will it stand up to the heat, will it go on smoothly on the curved surface, and do you think it would ruin the plastic? Theoretically it would work but I haven't tried and I don't want to *$&@ up the new ram!!!!
theres a guy on ebay who takes stock housings and sprays them with a smoke or tint and they look nice. He wants a little too much for em sometimes, so i havent bought any yet, plus i think i can do it myself. If anyone knows what that stuff is, or where to get it, I would like to know. Thanks..
I've heard from a couple different forums and the stuff is called nightshade. Summit racing sells it but there are a couple different competitive brands out there. I know that any local hobby store will carry the testors brand transparent black. Apparently this works without prep and just a simple clear coat over the top when your done. I'd try it but I'm afraid I'll screw it up and ruin my hundred dollar taillamps.
The best way to do it is to use the spray tint but only on the inside of the lense. This involves separating the housings on most cars. Not sure what car you are asking to do this on. Do not apply film to the outside or inside of the lense. It will not turn out good at all. Do not spray the tint on the outside either as it will not hold up over time and you will be dissappointed. Seen it done before.
