Default Battery Question!

My 98 Ram has a huge battery, 600 cold crank amps, and something like 75 minutes reserve?

The batteries from the local stores that are 'suppose' to fit my truck are much smaller and don't have the reserve amps. Is that a problem? Do I need the reserve amps? What are they for?

Thanks!

I think the reserve amps has to do with how much of a load a battery will supply in a certain amount time and not be completely discharged. I always try to get a 850 or 1000 cold starting rating and have very little battery trouble.

Yup, a battery is something you don't want to skimp on, especially in a cold weather environment!!! I always replace my stock battery with a Die Hard Gold after 3-4 years...

I agree don't be cheap. I have an Optima dry cell in my 98 it is over kill but they claim you can't kill these batteries either.
