Hi need some help. I have a 99 4x4, 5.2 that jerks under light load after 50 mph. I can't tell if it is a miss or something in the drive train. (the 2 techs. that test drove it can't tell eather) The first time I had it in the shop they replaced and rerouted the plug wires a TSB did apply. Did not fix it. The second time they said its the over drive lockout and its nolmal. Then why does it do when not in over drive? They have had it on the computer and it has no codes. At times it feels like the brakes pulsesating but I can't feel it in the brake pedal. I like my Dakota but I've had ball joints and control arms replaced twice before 46000 miles. I'm loosing faith in it.

sounds like yours trans I had the same problem and it was over drive that was messed up teh whole time and didnt know it and my reverse finnaly messed up and wouldnt go in it and i could drive in nutral my gears they said were sjut about welded together if i was you id go ahve the trans looked at as soon as possiably cause if u take it to teh dealer its gonna be about 2800 bucks for a brand new trans and mine only had 44,000 and 50,000-56,000 when i get ride of it i was payn 285 for my other truck a month and was gonna be payn 167 a month for the trans so 450 bucks so i jsut said id pay it for sumthing new than sumthing like that...it was an 01 modle too now i ahve an 04 and only payn 50 more bucks a month than what i would be payn for the truck and trans together

 

My truck would jerk shifting into 2nd so I took it in and they did a trans flush on it and it's been shifting smooth ever since.
