Corvette Starter Problem
Alright I know this is a dodge forum and all but I am having problems with my 75 Corvette the starter is not shutting off all of a sudden... When you go to start the car it starts up like normal then the starter just keeps cranking away so you figure you should be able to turn the key off and it should shut off right... Well no the only way to shut it off is to pull the negative battery terminal... Any clue on how to fix this guys
I had the same problem with my 80 Malibu...I replaced my solinoid with a new one and it still did the same thing,,So i changed my starter and still the same thing,,So i just put a push button and bypassed the key and it was fine,,[sm=yeahsmile.gif]But i never figured out why it did that....Good luck and let me know if you find the problem..Cause im still scraching my head...Wondering why the #%$@ it did that...
If I remember correctly, those Vettes had a heat shield around/over the starter, because the exhaust ran very close to it. So I would check for bare (melted)wire touching metal in that area. All wires big and small.
I'd also do ashort to groundcheck on all the wires using an OHM meter.
Then I would drink Beer andday dream I was one of those bald guys that lady in Hansons Avatar has in a head lock.
