Default Speedometer

I have a 2000 Ram Cummings diesel with a Dana 70 limited slip rear end that broke a spyder gear eating it's way out of the rear cover
Not realizing at the time it chewed up the exciter ring in places.Does this ring actually work the speedometer or is it just an ABS timing ring.
Also is this the only speed / abs sensor on this truck my book shows me sensors in places where I cannot find any. Thanks for any help.

Default RE: Speedometer

it does work the speedometer, as its downstream of the transmission gears and ring/pinion ratio. there is another speed sensor somewhere in/around the transmission, but i've never removed mine and im not sure which wire it is. do a search on vss, speed sensor, brake and abs light for more info on that one. there are a lot of posts.

by the way, you might want to repost in cummins or 2nd gen subforum. they get a lot more traffic than these outlying ones.
