Hey People, got another question. Got a 2000 Dodge Durango with 4.7. Just turned 81,000 miles. I dont know if a tuneup has ever been done or not, but it is starting to run a little rich. Getting carbon in the tailpipe. Under hard acceleration it sounds like it is starting to detonate at around 3,900 to 5,000 rpm's. Has anyone else experienced this problem. By the way it is not showing any codes, and the air filter is clean.. Thank you...

Check for oil leaks. The P/S pump likes to leak and slings fluid all over, including in the O2 sensors, makes them very rich. Usually will set a engine lean code because the O2 will see low voltage causing the PCM to drive rich even though the car is actually already rich. Seen it a bunch of times. Even if the O2's look good, maybe think about swapping them out, like anything else the have a life expectancy.
