I have a 1996 Dodge Ram. Its a 5.9 liter gas fueled V8. Lately the "Check Engine" light will go on and then off by itself. I took it to Autozone to have the computer hooked up and the technition told me that the computer has stored no codes (it was off at the time). The vehicle has also had random trouble with idling. It will run if I keep my foot on the gas but it will die in all settings (D,R,N,etc). Recently I was out on a rough dirt road and the "Check Engine" light came on all of a sudden and the truck died all at once. A few minutes later the truck would idle again but the Check engine light remained lit. As I was driving home on the highway the truck surged (sort of like the auto transmission was shifting gears) and the check engine light went off again. Right now it runs as it should and the light is off. Any ideas?
